Q| We like you to photograph our wedding day, how do we go about booking you?
A: Reach us via our contact form or call, text, e mail us along with your wedding and venue(s), if booked. We can respond by phone or e mail. If possible, We would like to have a meeting with both of you in person so you can get to know your future photographers and can ask us everything you need. Once you’ve decided to choose us as your photographer, We will send a contract for you to sign and return with a deposit. After that, you can check “find a photographer” off your wedding to-do list. It’s that easy!
Q| What can we expect from Vivid Dreams Photography on our wedding day?
A) We are very friendly, non-intrusive and un-intimidating which helps us to loosen people up for the posed shots and we strive to capture as many candid moments as possible. We will often pose shots where needed for portraits but we will do our best to get you to be natural and candid within that pose. We like to capture sincere feelings and the overall fun and romance of the day. When we have little more control over the environment and subjects, we tend to get much more creative and artistic shots.
Q| What does a wedding collections cost?
A: Our collection starts at $2600. Contact us for a full rate card and details. You’ll find that we like to keep things really simple. If you are eloping, doing something really simple, or only need us for a few hours, shoot us an email and we can find something that will work for everyone.
Q| How long will you stay for on the wedding day?
A: We believe in capturing your whole story of your special day, so we will be with you from the morning preparations (as early as needed) to way after the first dance.
Q| Do you include digital images in your wedding packages?
A) We sure do! Our full day wedding collections comes with your own online gallery and DVD/USB with your images in full resolution where you can download them and share the link and password with friends and family so that they can do that same. With our platform you can even share via your favorite social media accounts directly.
Q| How much do I need to deposit?
A: We require a 50% initial deposit to book us and the rest of the fee to be paid on or before the wedding day.
Q|How far should we book in advance?
A: Typically 8-12 months in advance as soon as you have a date and venue. If you’re not the plan way in the advance type of guy or gal, fret not. Check with us for availability.
Q| Will you be shooting the wedding?
A: Yes. You are hiring us to shoot the wedding, not another photographer working under our name.
Q| Do you shoot with an assistant?
A: We always shoot together and 3nd photographer with rare exceptions for a large wedding. This frees us up to focus on shooting and looking for special moments while ensuring that between the two of us, we don’t miss the important ones. The 3rd shooter offers a different but complementary perspective and allows us to work efficiently throughout the entire day.
Q| Where are you located?
A: We are based in Surrey, BC and cover the entire Lower Mainland but we often go up to Calgary and Toronto. If you aren’t in any of these locations, please read the next question.
Q|Do you travel?
A: We love to travel and will generally arrive at least the day before the event to help ensure that unexpected travel delays do not make us late or miss your big day. Let us know where you are and we’ll figure out the best way to get us out to you.
Q| What should we wear?
A: Colour! Have a preference for coordinating colors and designs and your photographs will unique from the rest of them. Avoid being matchy matchy and go for alternative. Textures are fantastic and details too – favorite hat, fashionable watch, cute scarf, whatever makes you, you. Feel free to carry with you one outfit change. And remember to keep in mind, you want to feel at ease and confident in whatever you decide to choose.
Q| When should we do the wedding portraits?
A: This is mostly up to you, but usually some just before the ceremony or immediately following the ceremony. For small weddings shooting before the ceremony allows you to check one more thing off the day’s to-do list early on and, more importantly, to afford you and the wedding party a chance to enjoy the cocktail hour and mingle with your guests. Shooting after the ceremony, depending on the time, could allow you to take advantage of the setting sun and its softer light.
Q| Do you take getting-ready shots?
A: These are some of our favorite photographs to capture. The energy and excitement of everyone moving about is there, but I can also capture the calm and solemn moments when the bride and groom think about their wedding day, the friends and family around them, and everything leading up to and away from this moment.
Q| Do you take dance shots?
A: That’s where the fun is. We are right there with everyone on the dance floor like ninjas with cameras. Harmless ninjas.
Q| Do you shoot in RAW?
A: Yes. RAW allows us to get the best quality and image detail when we are processing the photos.
Q| Do you shoot in B&W?
A: We love B&W photographs. There is something so timeless about them. Since we shoot digital, this allows us to decide after the fact whether we want to process the image in B&W or Color. However, we generally shoot the image with a color preference in mind based on what we are seeing.
Q| What about the vintage look?
A: There are countless ways to edit a photo. Some may appeal to one couple, while not to another. If you see a particular style you like, please let us know, and we will do our very best to accommodate.
Q| What kind of equipment do you use?
A: We shoot with professional digital SLR cameras from two popular and top of the line brands Canon and Nikon. (D800 and 5D Mark III and a combination of Nikkor and Canon prime and zoom lenses along with speedlights and strobes). We also carry back up camera and lenses just in case our primaries decides to stop working.
Q| When will I get to see my wedding photos?
A: Your photos will generally be ready within 4-5 weeks following the wedding. We go through a careful process of choosing the best images from the day and processing each of them with individual attention.
Q| Do you shoot video?
A: Unfortunately, to focus our attention on the photography, We cannot do both at once ourselves. However, We offer a montage video option. If you are interested, please mention this in your initial email or phone call.
Q| Do you offer albums?
A: Yes. We offer custom-designed, layflat, flush mount, hardbound wedding albums along with a selection of other a la carte products.
Q| Who chooses the photographs in the album?
A: We offer you a chance to pick a selection of photos that you must have in the album. This can be anywhere from 0 to the entire album. However, We do advise that you let us choose the majority of the photos for the album since we will use our best judgment to select the best and more relevant photos to tell the story of your wedding day. One of the top reasons, couples often times say they haven’t ordered the albums from their photographers is because they haven’t gotten around to choosing the pictures for the album.
Q| Can we see the album design before it goes to print?
A: Yes of course, we will custom design using combination your favourite chosen images and our ours before sending an electronic copy of the page layouts to you. We want your album to be as perfect as possible and to your exact specifications before going to album production.
